A2Justice's Judicial Integrity and Independence Programme (JIIP) works towards restoring the institutional integrity and autonomy of Nigeria’s judicial system to adjudicate disputes independently, efficiently and speedily.
Nigeria’s prolonged years of military rule had malign consequences for judicial independence and the integrity of the judicial system with an obvious lack of public confidence in the system. Almost every critical aspect of the justice system reeled back into ineptitude, administrative and adjudicatory inefficiency, infrastructure deficit, partisanship and revolting corruption among judicial officials and court officials.
With ripples of this state of affairs filtering into Nigeria’ democratic dispensation, A2Justice JIIP undertakes advocacy efforts which includes campaigns, publication of literatures and journals targeted at reinforcing judicial oversights as well as strengthening judicial integrity and independence as a key democratic institution.
One of Nigeria’s most respected jurists and a retired Justice of the Nigeria’s Supreme Court, late Justice Aniagolu, described A2Justice’s judicial integrity work as “… a crucial job for the emancipation of this country – you are our mouth piece in this regard”
