A2Justice Petitions National Human Rights Commission on the killings of suspected Boko Haram members at DSS Hq
A2Justice has petitioned the NHRC on the extrajudicial killing of 21 Boko Haram Detainees, at the SSS Headquarters in Abuja, carried out by officers of the State Security Service and Nigerian military on Sunday, 30th March 2014. In the petition letter sent on the 4th of April 2014, to the Executive Secretary of NHRC and copied to the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, and the President, A2J requested that the NHRC to refers any matter of human rights violation requiring prosecution to the Attorney General of Federation or of a State as the case may be.
Apparently irked by the nature of the killings surrounding the detainees, and the contradicting information by security operatives, by Section 5(p) NHRC Act 1995, amended Act 2010; the NHRC was urged to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation.
